Fencing is offered in many schools in Canterbury. A wide range of classes, clubs and private coaching is available for fencers of all levels of ability and involvement.
There are a number of local competitions specifically for school-aged students. These are Canterbury Schools, Mid South Secondary Schools (separate Beginners and Open events), Mid South Primary/Intermediate Schools, Under 13s, Under 15s and Under 17s. Both individual and team competitions are offered.
National competitions (including National Secondary Schools, U15 and U17) are held in Christchurch from time to time.
