Competitions & Events Coordinator

School Sport Canterbury is seeking a motivated and highly organised Competitions and Events Coordinator to join our team based at the new Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre.

Reporting to the Programme and Sport Development Manager, you will coordinate a portfolio of secondary school sports competitions and events, including basketball, volleyball and other programmes throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing competition entries and registrations
  • Creating and publishing draws, schedules and competition information
  • Processing results and standings
  • Assisting with coordinating sporting events and championships
  • Communicating with schools, sporting organisations and venue providers
  • Creating and scheduling social media content to promote competitions, events and programmes
  • Assisting with website and digital communications updates
  • Maintaining accurate databases and records
  • Supporting continuous improvement across programmes and services

About You

We're looking for someone who is highly organised, enjoys working with people and thrives on getting the details right.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence managing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Confidence using social media and digital communication platforms
  • Strong written communication and content creation skills

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • Experience creating competition draws or schedules
  • Sports administration or event management experience
  • Knowledge of secondary school sport
  • Experience using Sporty or similar competition management systems
  • Experience managing social media accounts or digital communications
  • Experience using Canva or similar content creation tools
