Jon took over the key role of regional sports director from Bill Grogan in April 2021.
With 25 years of experience working in the Sport and Active Recreation sector, much of which has been spent working in and around school and tertiary settings. Jon has spent the last 14 years working within Sport Canterbury, the Regional Sports Trust for the Canterbury West Coast region. He currently leads the Sector Development Team focused on providing quality experiences for our young people, reducing the drop-off seen in youth sport and putting the participant needs at the centre of decision-making.
Jon has an infectious passion for all sport and is a huge advocate for the opportunities, connections, learning and values it provides for our young people. Jon enjoys participating in a range of sports including Hockey, Cricket, Squash, Climbing, White Water Paddling and more recently Golf. He now dedicates much of his spare time coaching and supporting his two children, who play a range of sports.

Bill was in the role of regional sports director from 2005 and retired from this role in April 2021. He continues with a part time role as Sport Manager.
This ended a distinguished career in teaching, which included along stint at Burnside High School as Head of the Physical Education department and most recently at Hillmorton High School where he was deputy principal. He enjoys sport, and plays cricket and golf in his spare time.

Megan has been connected to the school sport sector in a range of capacities for 20 years. She has a degree in Education, specialising in Physical Education and has extensive experience in school sport, sports management, project management and leading change for non-profit organisations. She has recently returned to Christchurch after a family adventure, living and working in Italy for two and a half years.
Having played, coached, and supported her children in a wide range of sports and activities, Megan firmly believes that being involved in sport offers a multitude of benefits for our Rangatahi. She is inspired by the challenge and opportunity to innovate and lead change that increases meaningful student engagement throughout our region.

Holly has a strong background in creating and delivering sport and recreation opportunities for young people. She has led a variety of programmes, camps, events, and tournaments, working closely with schools, students, and community groups to ensure activities are engaging, inclusive, and enjoyable. Holly is a positive and approachable leader who is passionate about helping young people build confidence, develop new skills, and have positive experiences through sport and physical activity.
Her commitment to young people extends beyond her professional work through her volunteer role as President of Southern United Hockey Club. In this role, she works to create welcoming and supportive environments where everyone feels they belong, regardless of their ability or experience. Holly strongly believes that sport is about much more than winning it is about connection, wellbeing, fun, and creating opportunities for all rangatahi to participate, grow, and thrive.
