Secondary Schools Girls Rugby Union in Christchurch is played as part of the Wednesday sports programme.
A co-educational schools boys competition is also played on Wednesdays.

Boys rugby is also played on Saturdays, and is organised by the Canterbury Rugby Football Union along with the Girls Wednesday competition:
